Dr./Mr. Nelson is an internationally qualified teacher and school administrator from Bogota, Colombia. Following in the steps of his parents, he developed a passion for education and completed a BSc. in Mathematics at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. He then completed a Postgraduate Degree in Educational Leadership at Harvard University, and his PhD. degree in Pedagogical Sciences at Universidad de Ciencias Pedagogicas Enrique Jose Varona in Havana, Cuba.

Dr./Mr. Nelson started his teaching career as a college professor in the Department of Mathematics of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, where he authored Mathematics textbooks and research papers on Mathematics Education and Quantum Computation. He continued gaining international school experience in diverse roles as Head of Department, Curriculum Coordinator, Secondary Principal, Upper Elementary Director, High School Director and Academic Director in international school settings in Colombia, Panama and Azerbaijan. He is an active member of the International Baccalaureate Organisation with roles like: Programme Coordinator, Extended Essay Examiner, Workshop Leader and School Visit Team Member.

Dr./Mr. Nelson is convinced that the cultivation of life-long skills, global awareness and strong values should be as relevant, in a school learning environment, as it is the promotion of high academic standards. Beyond his professional life, he enjoys the practice of equestrian sports, is a football enthusiast, and loves volleyball as much as playing the piano. Having lived in Baku from 2016 to 2018, he is thrilled to return to Azerbaijan and enjoy its vibrant culture, the hospitality of its people and the wonders of its cuisine.
